PURPOSE:To shorten an arrival time at a focal point and to improve operation convenience by deciding a scanning starting direction based on a direction shown by shift quantity by which correlation quantity which is minimum value in overall correlation quantity is given if focus detecting calculation is impossible. CONSTITUTION:A scanning direction setting part 900 is mounted to set the scanning starting direction of a motor 800 based on the shift quantity by which the minimum value of the correlation quantity is given when focus detection is impossible in a calculating part 700, that is, the minimum value of the correlation quantity can't be detected. Then, control is performed in the way that a focus detecting condition is obtained by the minimum scanning driving operation of an objective lens 100. Thus, a driving time to a focal point can be shortened. |
