PURPOSE:To obtain an optical recording medium having high recording density and sensitivity, little deterioration caused by a repeated use or a long-term storage, and a recording layer having no toxicity to human body by incorporating an organic coloring matter and a specific phosphorus-containing metallic complex in the recording layer. CONSTITUTION:This optical recording medium is provided with a recording layer directly on a substrate or through an undercoat layer. The recording layer contains an organic coloring matter and a phosphorus-containing metallic complex having a structural formula (I). As the organic coloring matter, a polymethine dye, a phthalocyanine dye, and a dithiol metallic complex dye are exemplified. The aforesaid phosphorus-containing metallic complex has a function of inhibiting the deterioration of the organic coloring matter by trapping singlet oxigens generated by a laser light irradiation. The phosphorus- containing metallic complex is used in the amount of 1-150pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. of the organic coloring matter. An excessively small amount of the phosphorus- containing metallic complex does not impart an effect of preventing the deterioration of the organic coloring matter. On the contrary, an excessively large amount thereof reduces functions as a recording medium. |
