The invention proceeds from the usual single-shell sound-insulating encapsulation for the drive assemblies or internal combustion engines of motor vehicles. The disadvantage of the known solutions is that sound-insulating materials known to be particularly effective have had to be avoided owing to their deficient heat resistance or the distance from the sound-radiating surface had to be made correspondingly large. The invention solves the problem by means of a two-shell encapsulation, in which the inner capsule, in addition to the sound insulation which it also produces, is responsible for the thermal shielding, whilst the lacuna can now be made from especially suitable material without regard to the thermal load capacity of the materials used.
