Introductory endoscopic section - with optical fibre bunches for image with lens and for light

Endoscope has a part (10) which is inserted in a body cavity and comprises an outer tube (11), optical fibres (13) with a lens (12) for the image, and optical fibres (14) for the light. An adhesive blob (16) fixes the lens and a jointing agent (17) links the distal ends of the fibres (14). The tube (11) is made of a material which is permeable for X-rays, e.g., PVC, PU or PTFE. The adhesive (16) or the agent (17) contains a material which is impermeable to X-rays, e.g., barium sulphate or bismuth oxide. ADVANTAGE - Requires only a reduced dia. for the introductory section and its location is easily determined by X-rays.
