PURPOSE:To transmit constant heat quality throughout the lower part and the upper part of a reforming tube of a fuel cell even if the temperature of combustion gas is lowered in a gas channel by changing the width of fins attached to the reforming tube along the flow direction of the gas. CONSTITUTION:The objective reformer of a fuel cell is provided with a cylindrical furnace body 14, a burner 2 to form combustion gas 7 and placed at the center of the upper part in the furnace body 14, a cylindrical partition wall 15 encircling the burner 2 and suspended in the furnace body 14, a spiral super- heater 9 placed below the burner 2 and a reforming tube 20 placed between the cylindrical partition wall 15 and the inner wall of the furnace body 14. The reforming tube 20 is formed of an outer cylinder 10 and an inner cylinder 11, filled with a reforming catalyst 3 in the tube and supplied with reforming stock fuel gas 4 from the super-heater 9. The reforming tube 20 is further provided with fins 28... having width increasing along the flow of the gases 4 and 7 and attached to both outer surfaces of the outer tube 10 and the inner tube 11 contacting with the combustion gas 7 and to the inner surface filled with the reforming catalyst 3 and effecting the reforming reaction of the reforming stock fuel gas 4. |
