A sliding catch for a knife has a body (2) connected to the knife blade (40) in a holder (30), and its slides lengthwise. The body of the catch is in contact with a V-shaped spring (3) whose returned ends (16,17) engage in notches (33) of the body underside. The forward loop (16) of the spring prevents a forward movement of the catch, and the rear loop (17) prevents a reverse movement. The catch has a knob (4) with three positions, and in the middle position, neutral, both ends of the spring are simultaneously engaged in notches so as to prevent any movement.
