<p>A shrimp peeling and deshelling machine (10) has a support wheel (36) and a peripheral tube (38). The wheel (36) is rotated by a motor (42) and the tube (38) has a slit (40) along its length facing away from the center of the wheel (36). The machine (10) includes an insertion station (16) that has a slit separating member (54). A shrimp (52) is inserted in the opening created by the slit separating member (54) and is caught by the slit (40) and rotated with the rotating tube (38) and wheel (36). A first cutting station (18) cuts the back shell of the shrimp (52) using a conventional rotating circular saw blade (50). A bottom shell cutting and shrimp ejection station (20) includes a second slit separator (76) and a cutting member (74) for cutting the bottom of the shrimp (52). The cutting member (74) is oriented to exit the tube (38) at the second opening (80) to permit the double cut shrimp (52) to exit the machine (10).</p> |
