The invention relates to a portable saw or a corresponding miniature saw installation, which comprises a frame 1 and a displaceable table 2, arranged to be supported by the said frame, as well as a cutting blade. The log to be sawn is fastened to the table 2 essentially in the longitudinal direction of the frame 1 and the table 2. Fastened detachably to the frame 1 in the longitudinal direction thereof is at least one extension part 5 for extending the frame 1 when the portable saw is in usage position. According to the invention, the portable saw comprises a lifting device 6 for raising and lowering the extension part 5.
