<p>PURPOSE: To transport and to process articles continuously or intermittently without causing loss of production by receiving inbound articles from a placing area, sending out some of the articles to an outbound area, transferring groups of inbound articles to a transient storage area, and adding the groups of articles taken out of the storage area to the outbound group. CONSTITUTION: The central article transporting station 46 controls the first work station for producing articles at a first cycle speed and the second work station for manipulating the articles at a second cycle speed, so that the two stations can operate continuously at a desired cycle speed. In this station 46, inbound articles are received by an inbound placing base 42, with some of the articles sent out to an outbound placing base 44 by a transfer device 48, and with groups of inbound articles transferred to a storage area 51; also, groups of articles taken out of this storage area are added to groups of articles on the outbound placing base 44. As a result, articles are transported and processed continuously or intermittently without causing loss of production.</p> |
