PURPOSE:To obtain a bright display surface and a high contrast image by arranging a face light source in the vicinity of a liquid crystal display panel and projecting light transmitted through the panel to the surface of a compact display screen constituted of a half mirror to form an image. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal panel 1 and the screen 3 constituted of the half mirror are arranged with a required interval so that a picture can be observed. Since the face light source 2 is used for the light source, the panel 1 and the face light source 2 can be adjacently arranged other than a lens for converting light into parallel beams. The use of the half mirror can remove a condenser lens and also remove a concave lens by equal power projection. The half-mirror screen 3 uses a metallic half mirror having 50% reflection, 50% transmission and slightly much absorption. Consequently, the contrast ratio can be improved and a clear image can be displayed. |
