The invention relates to an improved process for the preparation of N,N'-bis(alkoxyalkyl)pyridine-2,4-dicarboxamides of the formula I <IMAGE> in which R<1> has the meaning indicated. The compounds of the formula I are efficacious fibrosuppressants and immunosuppressants.
