PURPOSE:To obtain ethers useful as a medicine, agricultural chemical, etc., in simple operation, easy recovery of a catalyst and high yield by reacting an alcohol with an organic halogenated product, etc., using a specific compound repeatedly usable without decomposing as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:An alcohol such as phenol is reacted with an organic halogenated product such as benzyl bromide using a calix[6]arene derivative expressed by formula II (R and R' are alkyl or H; n is 4-8; m is 4-8; m is 0-20) such as formula I (m is 7.2) as a phase-transfer catalyst in an organic solvent such as methylene chloride in the presence of an alkali compound such as KOH, preferably at a temperature of boiling point of an used solvent and then the above-mentioned catalyst is absorbed and removed by a silica gel column, etc., readily recovered by dissolving in an alcohol such as methanol and reused to provide the aimed ethers such as benzylphenyl ether or bisphenoxymethane useful as dyestuff and pigment, resin raw material, etc. |
