PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of an overlap position and to miniaturize the title printer by using one printing head arranged to the outer periphery of a platen to successively move monocolor ribbons between said head and the platen and applying full-color printing to the printing paper supplied to the platen. CONSTITUTION:A ribbon of a yellow color is rotated below a thermal head 3 by a ribbon replacing mechanism 5 in such a state that the thermal head 3 is separated from a platen 1. Next, the thermal head 3 approaches the platen 1 and the yellow color is thermally transferred to the printing paper 4 preliminarily supplied to the platen 1 by the thermal head 3. At this time, the printing paper 4 is moved in the width direction by the reciprocating operation of the thermal head 3 and moved in the longitudinal direction by the rotary operation of the platen 1 to perform printing. After the printing of the yellow color is finished, the thermal head 3 is again separated from the platen 1 and a ribbon 22 of a magenta color is rotated below the thermal head 3 by the ribbon replacing mechanism 5 and the printing of the magenta color is performed in the same way. |
