A high-temperature liquid hydrogen superconductor coil can be used as part of a hybrid unit together with a liquid hydrogen internal combustion engine and a high-temperature superconductor electric machine (motor/generator) as energy store. Photovoltaic cells can be produced by performing electrolysis additionally on solar hydrogen. In engine mode, the coil serves as a battery (e.g. motor vehicle battery). In generator mode in which it operates as an emergency current assembly together with a liquid-hydrogen internal-combustion engine, the coil can be used as e.g. a mains accumulator for an electric supply company. In both cases, the coil and the electric machine would be cooled with the same liquid hydrogen with which the internal combustion engine is operated.
