A device for dispensing fish food (12) with a storage container (5) and a rotating worm which conveys the food from the storage container to a discharge opening (7) is improved with regard to reduced drive energy and usability for different food types. It is proposed to use as the worm a coil (4) which is mounted rotatably about its central axis and to mount this with very low friction in a cylindrical housing. Inlet dividing line (6) and discharge opening (7) have a spacing in the housing longitudinal direction of such a length that the food does not fall through without rotary movement of the coil. For distributing the food, a throwing plate (11) is provided. The operating time and/or the standstill time is controlled electronically. <IMAGE>
