For engraving ornamental motifs on panels with an external finish based on melamine or similar, especially applicable to the engraving of motifs on panels or the panels of recreational equipment, in which the first stage consists of machining the visible surface of the panel to remove completely or partially the said external layer, using a milling cutter or similar device for this purpose, so as to form an image in bas-relief of the motif to be printed or engraved after removal of the said external layer; and in the second stage the application of a coat of paint to the said area in bas-relief. <IMAGE>
