PURPOSE:To obtain the title uniform fibrous structure with simple operation by impregnating a combustible org.-fiber structure with an aq. mixed soln. of an aq. soln. of titanium alkoxide and hydrogen peroxide and a water-soluble hydrolysate of silicon alkoxide, drying, and then heating the structure. CONSTITUTION:A combustible org. structure of cotton, wool, etc., is impregnated with the above-mentioned aq. mixed soln., then dried, and further heated at >=350 deg.C or preferably at >=1000 deg.C to burn the structure. The aq. soln. of titanium alkoxide and hydrogen peroxide constituting the aq. mixed soln. is obtained by adding titanium alkoxide (preferably titanium tetraisopropoxide) to aq. hydrogen peroxide. Meanwhile, the silicon alkoxide is hydrolyzed with an org. acid such as acetic acid as the catalyst. The aq. mixed soln. has a higher impregnation rate than the conventional colloidal soln., and the structure can be uniformly impregnated. The obtained fibrous structure of a titania-silica composite oxide is used as a high-temp. filter, catalyst, etc. |
