A sheathing device for a row of pipes, particularly in a superheater or in a heat exchanger, comprises two shaped bodies (1, 2) of abrasion-resistant, good thermally conducting ceramic material (eg. SiC) whose edges (6, 8 and 7, 9) engage and which define a space (3) for receiving the row of pipes. The shaped bodies (1, 2) are held together by two clamp members (14, 15) of U-shape which have inwardly extending formations (16, 17) on the inner surface of their limbs which engage in recesses (10) in the outer surface of the edges of the shaped bodies (1, 2). The bodies (1, 2) may extend the entire length of the pipes as a single or a plurality of entities. <IMAGE> |
