PURPOSE:To reduce density irregularity by flattening the upper surfaces of heat generating resistors at least in the arrangement direction of heat generators by polishing and applying resistance value trimming processing to the heat generators before forming a membrane resistor protective film by low temp. membrane forming technique. CONSTITUTION:A recording head consists of partial glaze 2, common electrodes 3, individual electrodes 4 and the gathering electrode 9 of the common electrodes 3, all of which are provided on an alumina ceramic substrate 1, and the common electrodes 3 and the individual electrodes 4 are arranged alternately arranged to each other at an equal interval (l). The parts between the common electrodes 3 and the individual electrodes 4 constitute heat generators 5a, 5b. After upper surfaces 6 of heat generating resistors 5 are flattened in the arrangement direction of the heat generators 5a, 5b by polishing, a membrane resistor protective film 7 is formed on the heat resistors 5. The surface of the membrane resistor protective film 7 becomes flat and the contact pressure thereof with recording paper becomes uniform. Further, resistance value trimming is performed before the membrane resistor protective film 7 is formed by low temp. membrane forming technique. The irregularity of the resistance values of the heat generators 5a, 5b is reduced and density irregularity is also reduced. |
