<p>New sucrose derivatives of formula (I) <IMAGE> in which (a) The groups R1, R2 and R3 are chosen from the radicals X, OH, OR and OCOR', where X is F, Cl, Br or I, R is a hydrocarbon group containing from 1 to 30 carbon atoms and from 0 to 10 silicon atoms and R' is a hydrocarbon group containing from 1 to 30 carbon atoms. (b) The groups R4 and R5, which are identical or different, are chosen from the CHO and HOCH-CHO radicals, or R4-R5 = CHOH-CHOH-CHOH (glucose configuration). (c) The groups R6 and R7 are CHO, or R6-R7 = CHOH-CHOH (fructose configuration). Process for the preparation of the new products of formula (I) by oxidative scission of a substituted sucrose derivative with an oxidising agent chosen from compounds capable of releasing the periodate ion and lead tetraacetate. Application of the products of the invention as bacteriostatic agents.</p> |
