PURPOSE:To surely execute optical axis alignment and to allow connection with high optical coupling efficiency by using a tentatively fixed magnetism generating means and fixing an optical fiber directly to a light guide holding member. CONSTITUTION:The light guide holding member 2 fixed with a photoconductive base body 1 and holding member 6 for the optical fiber 3 are arrayed and an electromagnet 7 is disposed to the rear surface side of the holding member 6. Current is passed to this electromagnet 6 to attract a retaining member 5 consisting of a magnetic material having a V-shaped groove 5a and after the optical axes of the holding members 2, 6 are aligned, spots 9a, 9b are fixed by a laser. The registration of the optical fiber 3 and the waveguides 1b, 1c is then finely adjusted and after the member 5 is retained securely by the electromagnet 7, the optical fiber 3 is directly fixed to the waveguide holding member 2 by solder 8. |
