PURPOSE:To obtain a color recorder having improved color reproduction, by subjecting input image data stored in an image memory means to toning through a dither pattern produced through 90 deg. rotation of a spiral dither pattern thus forming output image data. CONSTITUTION:A simulating tone processor 5 tones digital input image data signals through dither method to form output image data. In other word, the tone level of each pixel in the input image data is compared with the threshold of each corresponding pixel in a dither pattern 7A produced through counter- clockwise 90 deg. rotation of a spiral dither pattern for every 4X4 pixel matrix, and if the tone level is equal to or larger than the threshold each corresponding pixel in the output image data is employed as a record pixel. If the tone level of each pixel in some 4X4 pixel matrix is 6, for example, each corresponding pixel in the output image data is employed as a record pixel(slanted section). Output image data from the simulating tone processor 5 are then recorded through a thermal head 6 onto a record paper. |
