PURPOSE:To prevent toxicity, antigenicity and carcinogenicity without harming at all a living body by crosslinking a part or the whole of independent or insoluble collagen or the soluble collagen combined with another high-polymer material by monosaccharides. CONSTITUTION:This medical material is produced by crosslinking a part or the whole of the independent or insoluble collagen or the soluble collagen combined with another high-polymer material by the monosaccharides. The monosaccharide are exemplified most preferably by the monosaccharides including pentose, aldose belonging to hexose, ketose and the phosphates thereof existing usually as a simple substance or deriv. in the living body. The medical material is produced simply by adding and mixing these monosaccharides to and with an aq. soluble collagen soln., progressing the reaction at ordinary temp. or under heating to about <=50 deg.C and properly molding the mixture. The amt. of the monosaccharides to be added may be controlled according to the degree of the polycondensation reaction of the resulted product of reaction. The digestion rate in the living body is thereby adequately controlled and the toxicity is completely eliminated. |
