<p>An anti-HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) agent contains as active component an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salt (e.g. Na, K, Ca or Mg salt) of a sulphate ester of an oligosaccharide having 4 to 10 D-glucose residues, linked alpha-1,4. Pref. the parent oligosaccharide is maltopentaose, maltohexaose or maltoheptaose, or dextrin with dextrose equivalent 11 to 42 (+/-1). The sulphur content of the active component is pref. between 16 and 18%, and the structure is as shown in formula (I): (where R is H or -SO3M; M is an alkali(ne earth)metal; n is 2-8).</p> |
