PURPOSE:To increase the selectivity and activity of a catalyst for steam reforming of methanol in a reaction producing hydrogen enriched gas by forming a blend of prescribed amts. of Cu, Zn and Mn oxides as the catalyst. CONSTITUTION:Water soluble salts of at least Cu, Zn and Mn are mixed with an aq. soln. of alkali metal salt, hydrogencarbonate or ammonia to coprecipitate conjugate hydroxide. At this time, in order to make a catalyst unnecessary, nitrates are preferably used as the water soluble salts in place of halides or sulfur-contg. salts. The hydroxide is well washed, dried and calcined to obtain the catalyst for steam reforming of methanol. The Cu content of the catalyst is preferably regulated to >=1mol%, the Zn content to <=90mol% and the Mn content to 1-20mol%. |
