PURPOSE:To set the optional steering characteristic of rear wheels with a simple structure by forming a rear wheel steering device with a belt member which is rotated in accordance with the steering angle of front wheels and connecting members for connecting the belt member to a rear wheel steering output shaft. CONSTITUTION:During the straight advancing travel of a vehicle, in a rear wheel steering device 9, a pin 22 is in the neutral position in the center between spur gears 16, 17 and, as front wheels are steered from this condition, the steering quantity of the front wheels is transmitted from an input shaft 12 to the spur gear 16 via a worm gear 13 and a spur gear 14 to rotate a toothed belt 21. At this time, as a steering angle becomes above a defined value, the pin 22 is moved from the position between spur gears 16, 17 to the position between spur gears 17, 18 or between spur gears 16, 20, being moved in directions parallel to tie rods 10L, 10R, to move a slider 23 in the same directions. As a result, the tie rods 10L, 10R are moved in the opposite directions to the steered directions of the front wheels, to steer rear wheels. |
