PURPOSE:To surely prevent image density nonuniformity caused by a change in the characteristic of an image carrier accompanied by unnecessary electrostatic charge to a non-exposure area by providing a charging width adjusting means adjusting a charging width with respect to the image carrier confirming to the size of a material to be transferred between an electrostatic charging means and the image carrier. CONSTITUTION:Between the electrostatic charging means 21 and a photosensitive body 20, the charging width adjusting means 210 is provided which adjusts the charging width with respect to the photosensitive body 20 confirming to the size of a sheet P. The charging width adjusting means 210 is arranged at both edges in the longitudinal direction of the electrostatic charging means 21 and provided with 1st and 2nd shutters 211 and 212 that are guided reciprocatively by means of a guiding means. The charging width is regulated beforehand by means of the shutters 211 and 212 so that the charging width is performed only to an exposure area part suitable to the size of the sheet. Thus, the image density nonuniformity can surely be prevented which is caused by the change in the characteristic of the image carrier accompanied by unnecessary electrostatic charge to the non-exposure area. |
