The invention relates to a transport container, such as a money container, in box form, with a closeable receiving compartment, fastened pivotably to the outside of the front wall, for a container card, and with an extension which is provided on the inside in the upper edge region and on which rests a lid which closes the transport container and which is secured to the front wall by means of a locking device. So that the container card can be extracted only when the lid is opened, there is coupled mechanically to the locking device for the lid a locking element which, when the lid is being locked, also engages over the receiving compartment or one or more locking extensions on the latter and closes this.
