A process for preparing a waterproof agent comprises (a) heating paraffin hydrocarbon (having m.p. 50-70 deg.C, i.e. C25-30 straight satd.) 70-90 wt. parts, metal aliphatate (i.e. stearate or oleate of Al, Ca and Zr) 10-30 wt. parts, emulsifier (i.e. polyoxyethyleneoleyl ether, polyoxyethylene stearyl ether) 2-5 wt. parts and auxiliary emulsifier (i.e. ethylene or hexyleneglycole) 2-5 wt. parts at 70-80 deg.C and adding water 200 wt. parts simultaneously with stirring, and (b) adding synthetic resin emulsion 20-40 wt. parts.
