PURPOSE:To prevent a printer from breaking or damaging without influence to the business of a mainframe by pressing a switch provided in a normal printer except a power switch when it becomes abnormal, and so controlling the printer as to reset the abnormal state to a normal state only when a recovery is possible. CONSTITUTION:When the abnormal solenoid energization is detected upon the failure of a driving element and a printer mechanism 220, a printer operation abnormal stopping is conducted, a solenoid switch 218 is turned OFF to stop power supply to the mechanism 220, thereby stopping driving of various motors and the solenoids and turning ON a printer abnormal stop flag. When a sheet feed switch 230 is pressed in a standby state, if the flag is not ON, only a line feeding similarly to print/line feeding operation is conducted. If an abnormal mechanical timing signal is generated (recovery impossible flag is OFF), an abnormal stop flag is turned OFF, the switch 218 is closed to supply power to the mechanism 220, thereby starting the line feeding. |
