Bicycle handlebar - has recesses along opposite sides to receive brake-gear change cables

A bicycle handlebar, especially for a racing cycle, is made from a curved tube (1). The tube has two diametrically-opposite recesses running along its sides from end to end, made to contain brake (4) and gear-change (5) cables. The recesses can also be used with specially-shaped handle-grips which have lengthwise projections on the inside and are designed to prevent twisting. The tube can be produced by drawing, followed by bending to the required shape. ADVANTAGE - Reduced aerodynamic drag. (5pp Dwg.No.3/3)
