PURPOSE: To obtain a metal master plate for which an expensive device is not required, and to make a process of developing a master disk after exposure unnecessary by forming a reflective optical structure and a recording layer on one surface of a substrate and forming the recording layer to have a composite synthetic resin double layer structure consisting of an expanding layer adjacent to the substrate and a holding layer bonded to the expanding layer. CONSTITUTION: Spiral tracks 2 having specified reflectance are formed by vapor deposition on one surface of a synthetic resin substrate 1, and an expanding layer 3 is formed on the substrate 1 by spin coating method. In this process, an org. solvent soln. with addition of a dye which is not crosslinked is applied on the center of the substrate 1, the substrate 1 is rotated to uniformly apply the soln. on the surface of the substrate l, and then the soln. is vaporized. Then the obtd. layer 3 is hardened by heat or irradiation of UV rays, and the holding layer 4 is formed on the layer 3 by spin coating method. Thus, the double layer structure 5 for recording is formed by the layer 3 and the holding layer 4. The obtd. master disk 1 to 5 is irradiated with laser beams from an Al-GaAs laser 7 and an Ar laser 8.
