PURPOSE:To prevent a slip in position of polarizable electrodes from occurring which are faced together via a porous separator, by establishing guide notches and/or guide pores on the polarizable electrodes and by incorporating the polarizable electrodes with guide pins fit to the guide notches and/or guide pores. CONSTITUTION:When manufacturing an electric double layer capacitor which has conductive collector electrodes 12 and 16 on both sides of a structure consisting of a non-electron conductive and ion permeable porous separator 15 and polarizable electrodes 11 and 11' established on at least one side of the porous separator 15, the polarizable electrodes 11 and 11' are incorporated by establishing guide notches 11a-11c and/or guide pores on the polarizable electrodes and by fitting guide pins 14a-14c to the guide notches 11a-11c and/or the guide pores. For example, the guide pins 14a-14c are placed at the center of the bottom of a metal case 12 and the notches 11a-11c of the polarizable electrode 11 are fit to the guide pins, then the polarizable electrode 11 is slid down along the guide pins to be mounted on the bottom of the metal case 12. |
