PURPOSE:To record a high quality image having continuous gradation, by providing a microcapsule layer wherein a leuco dye and a porous microcapsule containing the leuco dye are dispersed in a binder to one surface of a support and providing a conductive layer to the other surface thereof. CONSTITUTION:An electro thermal transfer sheet 1 is constituted by providing a microcapsule layer 7 wherein a porous microcapsule 4 containing a leuco dye 5 and the leuco dye 5 are dispersed in a heat-meltable binder 6 to one surface of a support 3 and providing a conductive layer 2 to the other surface thereof. The coupler 8 forming a color with the leuco dye is applied to a recording sheet 9. When a current is supplied to a current supply recording needle 12 corresponding to the image signal from a CRT and the current supply thermal transfer sheet 1 is heated to temps. T1, T2, T3, the microcapsule layer 7 of said transfer sheet 1 is melted corresponding thereto and the transmission amount of the leuco dye 5 contained in the microcapsule 4 is controlled and the leuco dye 5 is transferred to the recording sheet 9 to form a color through the reaction with the coupler. Therefore, the color development of the dye corresponding to heat energy quantity is obtained on the recording sheet 9 and a high quality transfer image having continuous gradation is recorded. |
