NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I [R is penicillin carboxyl-protecting group; group of formula II is (substituted) heterocyclic group having 1-4 N atoms. as hetero atoms.]. EXAMPLE:2alpha-Methyl-2beta-(1,2,3-triazol-1-yl)methylpenam-3alpha-car bo-xylic acid p- methoxybenzyl ester. USE:An intermediate capable of producing a 1,1-dioxido-2beta-substituted methylpenicillin derivative having beta-lactamase inhibiting activity in a short step and high yield compared with conventional process. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced on an industrial scale at a low cost, by reacting a compound of formula III (R1 is nitrogen- containing heterocyclic group) with a compound of formula IV in the presence of a metal compound. The obtained compound is useful as an intermediate for the above compound expressed by formula IV (R1' and R2' are H, trialkylsilyl, lower alkyl, etc.). |
