METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR REMOVING ODOR-CAUSING COMPONENTS FROM GAS

PURPOSE:To effect a safe deodorization without causing the production of harmful substances and the occurrence of water draining in the exhaust gas, by using polyvinyl pyrrolidone to bring an immediate and lasting deodorizing effect. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of hollow tubes 1-1 consisting of polyvinyl chloride is gathered into a column form with a cover 1-2. The entire inner surface of the hollow tubes 1-1 of this column 1 is coated with an aqueous polyvinyl pyrrolidone solution and, after drying, it is used. The gas containing odor- causing components is introduced through a gas inlet 3-1 and then through a pretreatment chamber 2 including an ozonizer 4 into the column 1 of an adsorption chamber 3, whereby the odor-causing components such as ammonia are removed from the gas and the gas thus cleaned is blown out by a fan 8 through a gas passage 7 of an after-treatment chamber 6.
