PURPOSE:To maintain a load on a drive power supply at the same level and dispense with the addition of detection circuits, etc. by calculating the printing dots of a single line to be printed prior to the start of printing a single line and performing printing at a printing speed corresponding to the density of printing dots. CONSTITUTION:Regarding printing code and control code which are input from an interface part, the printing code is stored into a line buffer 11, then is entered into a printing dot count table 12 and data equal to the number of printing dots which correspond to each printing code is read to be integrated by a control part 13. In addition, the control code for starting printing is input to the control part 13. If the total number of dots in a single line which are integrated to be printed, is entered into the control part 13, and also the control code for initiation of printing is input, printing speed corresponding to the total number of dots integrated in a single line is read from a printing speed table 14 to start printing of a single line. Furthermore, character codes are sequentially read from the line buffer 11 at the control part 13 and a dot matrix pattern corresponding to a character generator 15 is read to be input to a printing head driver 16. Subsequently, a printing head is driven to perform printing. |
