PURPOSE: To mechanically stabilize an optical disk for the purpose of improving recording and reproducing performance by providing a ring-shaped circular body in a stabilizing ring, giving a uniform mass distribution along the circumferential direction, and attaching the body of the stabilizing ring adjacently to the outer edge of the optical disk with an attaching means. CONSTITUTION: The stabilizing ring 10 is provided with a circular outer edge part 14, circular inner edge part 16, upper face 18 and a lower face 20. A positioning device 30 is equipped with a hub 34 having a circular outer edge part 36; with the stabilizing ring 10 placed around the outer edge 36 of the positioning device 30, the stabilizing ring 10 is arranged concentrically with a compact disk 12. After the stabilizing ring 10 and the compact disk 12 are matched concentrically, the stabilizing ring 10 is arranged on the nonworking face of the compact disk 12, fixed to it adjacently to the outer edge 28 of the compact disk 12, and held firmly with an adhesive at a prescribed position. As a result, the optical disk is mechanically stabilized. |
