Polypeptides with cell-spreading activity.

Polypeptides with cell-spreading activity which corresponds to the peptide with a 283 amino acid (Ala<1><2><3><5>-Met<1><5><1><7>) extending from the N-terminus of fibronectin, but which are of shorter chain lengths (e.g. 279 to 138 amino acids) due to deletion of amino acid or peptide from the N-terminus. These polypeptides are expressed well in addition to having good cell-spreading activity; they are made by culturing transformants (e.g. E.coli JM 109/pTF7021 and JM 109/pTF2021, FERM BP-1940 and -1941) carrying appropriate recombinant plasmids (e.g. pTF7021 and pTF2021).
