PURPOSE:To obtain iron oxide of low silicon content, suitable for soft ferrite, by adding magnesium oxide to pickling waste solution as a raw material for producing iron oxide, further adding alumina to the filtrate and filtering to remove the silicon components efficiently. CONSTITUTION:Magnesium oxide is added to the waste solution from steel pickling, they are mixed with stirring to absorb the silicate polymers in the waste and the precipitate is filtered off. Then, the filtrate is combined with alumina to absorb the remaining silicate polymers, which are filtered off. Then, the filtrate is calcined to give iron oxide of low silicon content. More effective desilication can be effected by adding a coagulant such as a cationic polyacrylamide polymer previously to the pickling waste to flocculate the silicon components, then adding magnesium oxide and alumina in order. |
