<p>Monoaxially sheets are produced from a mixture of (I) 40-60wt.% polyethylene with a density of 0.940-0.965 g./cm3 and an intrinsic viscosity (measured in decalin at 130 degrees C) of 2-4.5 dl/g. and (II) 60-40wt.% of a mixture of (a) 70-80wt.% polypropylene of which less than 1 wt.% is soluble in boiling toluene at a wt. ratio polypropylene : toluene of 5:95, and (b) 30-20wt.% polypropylene of which more than 99wt.% is soluble in boiling toluene at a wt. ratio polypropylene : toluene of 5:95. Polypropylenes (IIa) and (IIb) have approx. the same intrinsic viscosities and also approx. the same mol. wt. distributions as determined by the gel permeation chromatography method, and have intrinsic viscosities (measured in decalin at 130 degrees C) of 1-10 dl/g. Gives sheets e.g. for use in packaging, with a better flexibility than known mixtures of polyethylene and polypropylene.</p> |
