1,198,191. Dynamo-electric machines. PHOTOCIRCUITS CORP. 22 Feb., 1968 [3 March, 1967], No. 8573/68. Heading H2A. [Also in Division B3] A rotating winding for a disc type machine includes a number of radially extending insulated wire segments distributed to form an annular array which are adjacent the stationary magnetic pole faces of the machine. The segments are interconnected to form a winding in the shape of a relatively thin disc and successive segments are displaced by a distance approximately equal to the distance between pole centres of the associated magnetic structure. Two successive radially extending segments form a coil and the coils are interconnected in wave configuration. To give the winding structural integrity it is wound on a blank (44), which may be of thermoplastic material, and embedded therein, Fig. 2 (not shown). The winding may alternatively be laminated between a pair of discs or it may be coated by spraying or dipping with a suitable dielectric medium. The wires may be bonded where they cross or heavy gauge wire having sufficient rigidity unsupported may be used. |
