PURPOSE:To obtain a sliding member having a low coefft. of friction and superior wear resistance by combining a zirconia sintered body and an alumina ceramic sintered body each having a specified compsn. as opposite materials. CONSTITUTION:The desired sliding member is obtd. by using a combination of a zirconia sintered body contg. 70-99.9wt.% zirconia compsn. and 0.1-30wt.% Al2O3 with an alumina ceramic sintered body contg. <=30wt.% zirconia compsn. and >=70wt.% Al2O3. The zirconia compsn. in the former sintered body contains 1.5-16mol% CeO2 as a stabilizer or further contains 0.2-5mol% one or more kinds of stabilizers such as Y2O3 and Gd2O3 as required. The zirconia compsn. in the latter sintered body contains 0.2-16mol% one or more kinds of stabilizers such as MgO, CeO2, Y2O3 and Gd2O3. |
