PURPOSE:To prevent recording paper from igniting in a fixing device by providing a means which resets a preheating state and controls the fixing device into a nonheating state even if the fixing device is set in the preheating mode when the recording paper is left in the fixing device. CONSTITUTION:If the recording paper jams in the fixing device 5, a paper jamming detector 12 detects that and its detection signal is inputted to a main control circuit 3 and then inputted to a fixing device control circuit 1 as a signal SJM through the main control circuit 3. In this state, if an off switch 8B for switching the fixing device 5 into the preheating state is operated without removing the jamming paper, the fixing device control circuit 1 resets the preheating mode on condition that the said detection signal SJM is inputted, and then stops a main power source on signal PON and controls a main power source into an off state to prevent the recording paper left in the fixing device 5 from igniting by continuous heating. |
