In a stabilised output DC (+) of predetermined value from a load-dependently fluctuating input DC, it is known to drop the difference voltage across an output regulating unit (IC202). This must be able to correct the entire range of fluctuation of the input DC and completely absorb the power loss occurring due to the voltage drop. The reliability of the overall arrangement depends on the operation of one regulating unit. These problems are eliminated in that the input DC is reduced step by step to the output DC (+) via a series circuit of a number of voltage regulating units (IC200-202). A uniform distribution of the voltage drop across the regulating units (IC200-202) is particularly advantageous in this connection. Circuit arrangements for this exhibit differential amplifiers (Tr. 201-203) and resistive voltage dividers (R206, R207). Preferred applications are power supplies and DC converters, particularly in industrial areas having high safety requirements such as, for example, for mining equipment. <IMAGE>
