Known dictating machines with a tape memory and short-rewind function have the disadvantage that, in particular in the case of short rewind lengths, there are troublesome variations from the desired rewind lengths. This disadvantage is to be overcome with the novel dictating machine. For this purpose, the novel dictating machine has in the drive a detector or sensor which registers every movement of the tape. Furthermore, a time-measuring device is provided, which is coupled to the detector or sensor arranged in the drive in order to measure the time elapsing between the start of the short-rewind function and the first movement of the tape. An adding device finally adds the delay time determined in the measurement to the set short-rewind time. Dictating machines with tape memory.
