PURPOSE: To increase the octane value of hydrocarbon feedstocks by depositing platinum, gallium and group II metal of the periodic table within and/or on an alumina support, thereby forming a catalyst. CONSTITUTION: After the alumina is impregnated with the aq. salt soln. of platinum, gallium and group II metal of the periodic table, aluminum is fired, by which the catalyst deposited with the platinum, gallium and group II metal of the periodic table in and/or on the alumina is produced. The amt. of the platinum to be deposited is adequately 0.05 to 5.0 wt.% of the total catalyst, the amt. of the gallium to be deposited 0.01 to 10 wt.% of the total catalyst and the amt. of the group II metal to be deposited 0.1 to 10 wt.% of the total catalyst. The catalyst described above is passed under an elevated temp. and increased pressure through the hydrocarbon feedstocks, by which the octane value of the hydrocarbon feedstocks is increased. |
