When an electric motor is used for driving a pump, it is intended to make it possible to use the heating of the cooling liquid to heat the medium conveyed by the pump, and at the same time to achieve improved motor cooling with a simpler construction of the cooling jacket. The cooling jacket is constructed as a two-piece housing whose two parts are designed in the form of pots and hold bearing plates. The housing parts are preferably produced using the die-casting process and surround at least the stator of the electric motor. There is only one separating point to be sealed between the housing parts. The medium conveyed by the pump is used as the cooling liquid.
