In this device, in which a levelling valve 26 is fixed on a suspended mass of the vehicle, and the actuating member 11 of the valve is connected by an articulation to an axle 10 so as to move linearly with respect to one another in a vertical plane, the valve 26 is a directional control slide valve fixed to a shaft 3 mounted so as to rotate in a support 15 secured to the chassis.
