An apparatus for the conveying of eggs from egg trays to delivery on a delivery transporter for en egg handling machine, involving a tray storage surface, a method of conveying the egg trays on the surface to an egg delivery position, and an egg lifting apparatus adjacent to the egg delivery position, to facilitate the accommodating of various types of egg trays, as well as the quick conveyance of the trays which avoids any potential damage to the trays. The apparatus distinguishes itself by the fact that the means of conveyance involves a moveable chain transporter on the tray storage surface's (1) plane with a continuous chain which passes the delivery position, where at the same time, there are a number of detachable individual egg tray support plates (7) attached to said chains each, with their own retention unit (13), for the securing of the egg tray against movement along the surface of the plate, and with a central opening (11), and where the chain transporter, and the support plates (7) attached to this, pass a stacking arrangement after the egg delivery position (5) for the emptied egg trays involving a largely vertical mobile tray lifting arrangement from the delivery surface (1), which, via the central opening (11) in an upper support plate (7) lifts the egg tray up to a delivery position in a tray stacking arrangement (9).<IMAGE>
